| This is a parody using "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts' Club Band" as the framework. I started this one as an attempt to lighten up the mood during a road trip from Riverside back to San Francisco. It's one of the few parodies that didn't come out of some conversation, jest, caffeine jag or other social merriment. Click here for the lyrics to the original song. |
front man No one sees them in the light of day -- Those pretentious Goths around the way. They wear clothing that is out of style And they’re never seen to crack a smile. It may not make much sense to you But they won’t ever seem to care: Pasty Gothic Chicks in Silk and Lace! chorus Those Pasty Gothic Chicks in Silk and Lace -- They’ll give you such a morbid show. Pretentious Gothic Chicks in Silk and Lace Turn heads wherever they may go. Pasty Gothic Chicks in, Pasty Gothic Chicks in, Pasty Gothic Chicks in Silk and Lace They wear a lot of makeup It’s mostly black and white Sometimes they’re lovely, I agree, But mostly they’re pretentious gits Or exhibitionists. front man I don’t really have the nerve to ask Why they wear their makeup like a mask -- Those princesses with their velvet cloaks, And their sickly sweet and clove-filled smokes. Don’t tell me that they’re comfortable With all that silver in their ears! Pretentious Gothic Chicks in Silk and Lace! Go-thic Chicks! Devon Apple, March 19, 2001 |
